Charles Buck

The death of Charles William Buck, 85, of Lower Sackville, NS and formerly of Springhill, occurred at The Sagewood Continuing Care Home on Monday, February 18, 2013. Charles was born in Springhill, a son of the late Horace and May (Chell) Buck and stepson to the late Fern (Metcalfe) Buck.
Charles was a survivor of the 1956 Mine Disaster. He retired as a mechanic, having worked for Bill Casey in Amherst. After his family, his passion was woodworking crafts. He enjoyed all outside activities including snowmobiling and boating. He loved dogs. Charles was a family man whose greatest joys involved time and outings with his family and children.
He will be sadly missed by two daughters, Mary Ann (Gilles) Savard, Lower Sackville, NS, and Sherry (Michael) McMasters, Shinimicas; two sons, Robert (Julie), Port Alberni, BC and Horace (Debbie) Buck, Springhill; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and his siblings, Carol (Darrel) Mattix, Oromocto, NB, James (June), Moose Jaw, SK, and a sister-in-law Carolyn Smith of Springhill.
Besides his parents, and his step-mother, Charles was predeceased by wife Margaret (Guthro); long time companion Phyllis McFadden, and a brother Clayton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361) where visiting hours will take place on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, February 22, 2013 from the funeral home. Rev. Wayne McCarther officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in the spring.
Those wishing to do so may make donations in memory of Charles to the Lung Association.
