Age 78 of Westmoreland, NH, formerly of Salem, NH, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at the Westwood Care & Rehab in Keene, NH.
He was born in Prince Edward Island, where he grew up and attended schools. He moved to Boston, MA, from Canada in his late teens, and lived for many years. He was a resident of Westmoreland, NH, for the past five years, formerly of Salem, NH, where he lived for 33 years.
Mr. McKenna was a retired carpenter for the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA. He was a US Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Derry-Salem Elks Lodge and Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, listening to Irish music and playing the harmonica.
He was predeceased by his wife, Florence (Gillis) McKenna. He is survived by two sons, Stephen and his wife Nancy McKenna of Keene, NH; Michael Pouliot of Salem, NH; two grandsons, Douglas and Daniel McKenna.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 30, from 9-10 a.m., followed by funeral service at 10 a.m. at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc. of NH, 1 Bedford Farms Dr., Suite 105, Bedford, NH 03110.
