Peacefully at the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, with her family by her side, of Viola Mary Gavin, beloved wife of the late Edward Gavin of Tignish, age 86 years. Born at Sea Cow Pond on April 11, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Fidilas (nee Doucette) Hackett. Lovingly remembered by her children Donnie (Edith) of Anglo; Mary (Joe) Robert of Rockwood, Ont.; Lorne (Lynda) of Tignish; Elaine (late Tommy) Perry of Tignish; Debbie (Lynsin) Stuckless of Rockwood, Ont.; and Lorraine (Norman) Pitre of Tignish. Dear grandmother to Marvin, Tracey, Cindy, Shelley, Tammy, Scott, Jennifer, Edward, Donna, Crystal, Jody, and Sheena. Great-grandmother to Jedd, Chloe, Ella, Kayley, Ryan, Samantha, Andrea, Brayden, Bailey, Breanna, Steven, Marley, Gracie, Jayden, Jenna, Cameron, Ella, and Mary Jane. Dear sister to Helen (late Atwood) Gavin of North Cape; Gerald (late Geraldine) of Norway; and Raymond (Enid) of Sea Cow Pond. She was predeceased by her son Glenn. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Monday, Feb. 25, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Tuesday morning Feb. 26, from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Brendon Gallant, Celebrant. Interment later in the church cemetery. If so desired memorials to the Tignish Seniors Co-op Home or to the Tignish Fire Department would be gratefully appreciated.
