BOWERS, HELEN - On Friday, February 22, 2013, Helen Bowers passed away at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital; with sadness we said our goodbyes. Born on June 12, 1921 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of John and Isabella (Hardy) Dundas, formerly of Scotland. She returned to Scotland and served in the Women’s Royal Naval Service during WWII. She married while overseas and moved back to Saint John, NB. During her retirement she enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting. She became a member of Friends of the Public Library, a Heart Support Group and St. John Anglican Church. Helen is survived by her daughters, Marney Miner of Nanaimo and Elizabeth Larlee of Fredericton, five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a niece, June (Ron) Brown of Saint John and a nephew Jack (Pauline) Parfitt of California. She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Joan and Minnie and her husband Arthur. The family wishes to acknowledge with gratitude the medical staff of the DECH for their help and kindness.
A memorial service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church on Tuesday, February 26 at 2 p.m. with Canon Bill McMullen presiding.
