Arthur Wilfred "Arty" Jordan
Jordan, Arthur Wilfred “Arty” - 76, West Prince St. Truro, NS, passed away peacefully at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro surrounded by his loving family on February 24, 2013. Arty was born in Truro, NS on July 21, 1936. He was the son of the late Wilfred and Laurene (Paris) Jordan. Arty worked for the nickel mine in Sudbury Ontario and moved back home to Truro to work for CNR/VIA Rail in 1962, retiring in 1995. He was co-founder and owner of Apex Cleaning Services Ltd. for 42 years. Arty loved his family and his community. His wife, children and grandchildren were his world. He was an avid golfer and played in many tournaments including the annual Apex Golf Tournament of which he was co-founder. Arty enjoyed being outside and mowing lawns on his lawn tractor and graciously mowing the lawns of his neighbors. He loved to garden and generously shared his produce with his community. Affectionately known to his grandchildren as “Papa”, Arty will be sadly missed and continually loved by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Yvonne; children Tina, Ardith Simmonds (Corey), Trevor (Jo-Anne), Tessie, grandchildren, Courtney, Chance, T.J. Taran, Angel; sister Helen (John Willis.) The family wishes to thank Drs Henderson and Sharma and especially the palliative care nurses for helping them through this difficult time. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 27th, 7pm – 9pm, Funeral on Thursday, February 28th at 1:00 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Pastor Brian Johnston officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Apex Golf Scholarship Fund and/or Zion Baptist Church.
