Emanuel (Lucky) Mamzellis
The death occurred peacefully at Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, February 25, 2013, at the age of 63.
Born in Corona, New York, on August 16, 1949, Emanuel, known to his friends and family as "Manny" or "Lucky", had a unique passion for life. While remaining a New Yorker at heart, he fell in love with his adopted home of Prince Edward Island and the friends and family connections he made there. His larger than life personality, never ending optimism, kindness and wisdom touched many of the people who knew him. He gave of himself to others openly and honestly and asked little in return because he loved people and he loved to love.
An accomplished businessman, starting his first company back in 1975, he carved out a niche in the competitive world of IT consulting in Manhattan, that lasted over 35 years. Also during that time, he diversified into mergers and acquisitions, real estate, the music industry and was an early influence in the now global health food and diet industry. He also participated in many philanthropic efforts and received many accolades and awards for his service to the community.
He was a patron of the arts, music lover and follower of astrology. His deep knowledge of many diverse subjects, ranging from ancient history, philosophy, comedy and film, made conversations witty and delightful. He was an avid follower of sports and always loved a good joke, whether it was sophisticated or salty.
He is gone but will never be forgotten, and will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Alkmini; brothers, Tony, George and Peter; sister, Maria; and adopted son, Ted.
A private ceremony will be held by the immediate family and close friends. Condolences may be sent to belvederefh@eastlink.ca.
