DEFAZIO, GERALD - The death of Gerald Defazio, age 81, of Nauwigewauk, NB, husband of the late Joyce (Marr) Defazio, occurred at Bobby’s Hope House, Saint John, NB on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. He was born in Saint John, NB, on June 8, 1931, the son of the late Nicholas and Madeline (Boucher) Defazio. Gerry is survived by his best friend and partner, June Bull; his twins Ricky (Joan) Defazio and Kathy (Ray) Defazio; sisters Shirley Lester, Linda (Gary) Defazio, Madeline (Mike) Boudreau, and Laura (Claude) Michaud; brothers Raymond (Peggy), Kenneth (Sherry), Gordon (Margaret), Gary, and Nicky (Carol); grandchildren Lindsay (Geoff) Lockhart, Ashley (Mark) Defazio, Cody Defazio, Jeremy (Amanda) Lackie, Tyler Morrell, Sonya (Matt) McIllwraith, Rick (Angel) Defazio, Kyle (Brittany) Defazio, and four great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Lillian in 2008; sons Tony and Larry; sister Jessie Deruisseau, and his brothers Ernest, Daniel and Doug. Gerry was a barber for 58 years practicing in several locations in Saint John and lastly in Hampton. He retired when he was 78 because of his failing health. He also loved hunting, fishing, camping, tinkering with and restoring old cars as a pastime.
He is resting at Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, with visiting on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Ron Vincent, will be held from Hampton United Church at 11:00 AM, on Friday, March 1, 2013. Donations to Bobby’s Hospice or to the memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
