Edith Legge

Date de naissance : 23 janvier 1957

Date de décès : 20 février 2013

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, partner, relative and friend, Edith. After her spirited and fearless battle with cancer since July 2010, she passed away peacefully at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Wednesday, February 20, 2013.

Edith grew up in Long Cove, NL and was the youngest of three children. With enthusiasm at the young age of 16, she married the love her life, Alec from Burin Bay Arm. Throughout their blissful
22 years of marriage, they had five loving children and their family evidently became the centre of Edith’s world. After the death of one month old Dion and Alec’s unexpected passing, Edith continued her journey as an amazing mother and best friend to her four daughters. As Edith remained forever committed to her daughters, family and friends; she embarked on new endeavours that added to her life. During this time, she met her long term partner Kevin and also consumed herself with her precious grandchildren Matthew, Andrew and Madison.

Family and friends, near and far, were undoubtedly Edith’s passion and delight. She counted on them through the good and bad times, and she was always eager to reciprocate. She led a rich life that entailed spending quality time at home surrounded with those she loved, as well as vacationing in Calgary and Fort McMurray to visit family and friends. Her signature gifts of friendship, love and strength, shown through her constant smiling, will never be forgotten.

Edith will be forever loved by her children, Connie Fewer (Darren), Dana, Sheri Anthony (Mark), Jennifer (Derrick); grandchildren, Matthew Fewer, Andrew Fewer & Madison Anthony;
sister, Helene Senior (Will); partner Kevin Gleason; brother-in-laws, Hughie Legge (Joan) &
Danny Legge; niece, nephews, cousins, and a large circle of close friends.

Predeceased by husband Alec Legge; son Dion; parents Mary & Michael Drake, brother Pius and family friend Scott Turpin.
Family and friends were invited to celebrate Edith’s life at Serenity Funeral Home in Burin, NL, on Sunday, February 24, 2013. The Funeral Mass took place at St. Patrick’s Parish in Salmonier on Monday, February 25th at 10:00 a.m. followed by the interment at Bethany United Church Cemetery in Burin Bay Arm.
On behalf of Edith, she and the family are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms at various times in our lives, especially during her most recent journey. We have too many people to name individually, but know your love and kindness will remain in our hearts, always.
As well, words will never express how blessed Edith and the family felt to have Dr. Lyn Power, Dr. Alia Norman, Nurse Jennifer Barter and their teams working with her. They worked diligently to give Edith what she wanted. They maintained her quality of life from the beginning until the very end so that she could be where she wanted, with us for as long as God would allow.
Our Angel who lived, loved and laughed.
