It is with sadness that we announce the passing of a dear husband, father and opa on February 26, 2013. With great strength, dignity, and grace he set sail on his last voyage. Well done yourself, Bob! Bob was born in Emmen, Netherlands but lived most of his life in Bergen - near the sea. He had a long and rewarding career as a maritime engineer and circumnavigated the world countless times - choosing to live his last years in Renews, Newfoundland. He was home down by the water, it was there he longed to stay! Bob is predeceased by his first wife, Nelly Feylbrief and his parents Cornelis and Maria (Pieneman) Woud. He leaves behind his wife Beth (Chidley); his children: Anita (Rik) Bieshaar, Schoorl, Netherlands, Edwin (Melissa), Auckland, New Zealand, Dennis (Esther) Alkmaar, Netherlands and his step-children: Stephen (Kelly) Wickens, Liam (Jennifer) Wickens, Siobhan (Adam) Kane, and Kieran (Nicole) Wickens; his brother Robert (Britt-Marie), Sweden; his sister Anita (Herald) Epple, Germany. He was Opa to Jeroen and Sarah Bieshaar, Daan, Esmee, Bas, Michael and Daniel Woud, Brendan and Chloe Wickens, Lily and Charlotte Kane. A special thank you to family and friends who loved and supported him during his final days, as well as, the doctors and staff of the Health Science Cancer Centre and the Palliative Care Unit. Visitation at Fahey’s Funeral Home, Fermeuse on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 2 p.m. - 9 p.m. No flowers by request but donations may be made to Renews, Saving Our Church Committee. A memorial service to be held at a later date.
