McCready, Elizabeth Ann (Willis), Truro, passed away at the Mira Long Term Care facility on Thursday evening, February 28, 2013. Surrounded by her loving family, she went peacefully into the arms of her Lord, in her 101st year. Born on July 8, 1912, she was the chosen daughter of her aunt, Blanche (Stoutley) Willis and Isaac Willis. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Francis McCready in 1974, her daughter, May June, in 2005 and her son Gordon Douglas in 1985, and two infant daughters. Also predeceased by her brothers Isaac, Ralph, Merle and James Willis, sisters Eula Nicholas, Blanche Chase, Helen McLaurin. She is survived by her children Wanda (Edmund) Wootton, Brampton, Ontario; Agnes (Wayne) Lattie, Truro, son Charlis (Harriet) McCready of Parrsboro, sons “McCready Brothers”, Jim and A.T. She will be sorely missed by her grandchildren Leroy (Joan) McCready, Anna (Willie) Atkinson, Donald (Cathy) McCready, William Spuzak; Katrine ( Michael) Dukic , Juanita (Jason) Wootton-Radko, Christina Wootton; Andrea (Gary) Waterman, Jodi (Sam) Gorall, Sheri (Sean) McGrath, Jeffrey (Michelle) Lattie, Connie (Steve) Carswell, Ottawa, Richard (Lynn) Field, Truro, Alyson (Max) McCready, Halifax, Amanda (Pat) Patterson, Truro. She is also survived by twenty-seven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Surviving also is her brother, John (Helen) Willis, Truro, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Being the oldest in her family, she left school at an early age to help her mother. Her quest for learning never ended and her love of reading has been passed on to the second and third generations. She returned to adult high school when she was in her sixties and loved acting with the Colchester Players. The VON Adult Day Care added quality and many friends to her life when she was in her eighties. Her greatest pride and accomplishment was in giving birth to nine children, raising seven of them to adulthood, and instilling in them first their love for each other and the love of learning. Her love of music and dancing is well known. Music would set her feet tapping even when she could no longer walk. She sang along to songs from the past 90 years, many that she taught us as children. Mom's 100th birthday party in July was our celebration of her life. There will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place and burial will take place in July when her family will all be together to again celebrate this wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Many thanks to Dr. Rafiq, staff of the Mira, Bea Shaffer, and all who added so much to her long life. Arrangements are under the direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home.
