McCONCHIE, GEORGE WINSLOW - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of George “Winslow” McConchie which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, March 1st, 2013. Born 1928, in Hibernia, Queen’s Co. NB, he was the son of the late John and Ida McConchie. Winslow graduated from Saint John Vocational School (commercial dept.) in 1946 and later he became a member of The Society of Industrial Cost Accountants attending evening classes for four years. During his years of employment, he served as office manager/accountant retiring at the age of 59 due to failing health. Winslow was a member of the Quispamsis United Church. He enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, and assisting family members and friends. Winslow is survived by his loving wife Edythe (Hopey) of 61 years of Quispamsis; daughter Bonnie Rogerson (Brian) of Quispamsis; son Glendon (Tara) of Hampton; sister Irma of Saint John; grandchildren Ryan (Mallory Sentner), Jenna Duncan (Jeremy), Ashlee Rogerson (Jon Nelson), Shellee Rogerson (Shawn Smith), great-grandchildren Carter, Isaiah, Logan; aunt Eva Molaskey; sister-in-law Trudy Burdman; brother-in-law Paul Cole; nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides his parents, Winslow was predeceased by his brother Lavern (Ethel); sister Pauline McConchie; sister-in-law Muriel Cole.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Sunday, March 3rd from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, March 4th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, March 5th at 11 a.m. followed by an interment at Riverbank Cemetery. Donations in memory of Winslow may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Lung Association of New Brunswick or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
