It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenena May Spencer at the Glace Bay Hospital on Friday, March 1, 2013, with family at her side.
Born in Militia Point, Inverness Co., Kenena was the daughter of the late Daniel and Jessie (MacGregor) MacIntosh. She was a former school teacher having taught at schools in Donkin and Port Morien. Kenena was a member of of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Port Morien and also a member of the St. Paul’s Guild. Kenena was an independent person who loved to do puzzles and enjoyed meeting people.
Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Joyce (the late George Holden), Douglas (Alice) MacIntosh, Jon (Edith) MacIntosh, Dr. Danny (Linda) MacIntosh, Joan MacIntosh and Orris (Tony) Orlando.
Besides her parents Kenena was predeceased by her husband, Herbert; brothers, Rev. Rod MacIntosh, Alex MacIntosh, Rev. Paynter MacIntosh, George MacIntosh and Kenneth MacIntosh. Kenena was also predeceased by her sister, Agnes MacIntosh.
Visitation will be in Patten Funeral Home 71 Union St., Glace Bay on Sunday, March 3 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 4 at 2 p.m. in St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Port Morien with the Rev. Vernon Reid officiating assisted by Rev. Glen Kent. Burial in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Donations can be made to St Paul’s Anglican Church.
