Margaret Alda LeClair
The death occurred peacefully, with family by her side, at the Atlantic Baptist Nursing Home, on Monday, February 18, 2013, of Margaret LeClair (nee Doucette), wife of the late Peter Alyre LeClair, of North Rustico, age 86.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Susan Sicinski (Brad), Lynn Rooney, Bonnie LeClair, and Cindy Carragher (Tucker); grandchildren, Christina, Amanda and Danielle Sicinski (Derek Owens); Tim (Rhonda), Bryan and Jon Rooney (Erin Berghuis); and Lindsay and Heather Carragher; and great-grandchildren, Noah and Tannyr Rooney, and Shyanne King. She is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Peters; sisters-in-law, Marina Doucette (the late Omer), Joyce LeClair (the late Ferdie), Rosella MacDougall (Reuben) and Lorraine Boychuck; and brothers-in-law, Alban, Armand (Gert) and Eric LeClair (Yvonne).
She was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred “Bruno” and Hilda (Gallant) Doucette; her sister, Helen Cox (Mike); and brothers, Roland (Kay), Omer and Roy Doucette.
While raising her family in Charlottetown, Margaret was never afraid of hard work. When her children were old enough for her to work outside the home, she took a job at the A&W in Charlottetown as a carhop, and was later hired as a cook in the A&W kitchen. After that she worked at the Kirkwood Motel dining room. Margaret spent the rest of her working years in retail, beginning in the Holman’s fabric department, then The Wool and Yarn Shop, and finally for a great many more years, at Henderson & Cudmore and the Lady Charlotte Shop selling women’s clothing. She took great pride in her work and was an expert saleswoman. Margaret was highly-principled and would never sell a garment to anyone that she felt didn’t make them look and feel their best.
Margaret was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. And you were indeed fortunate to have her as your friend, for her loyalty was unshakeable. She was compassionate and caring to those who struggled for the bare necessities of life, and she gave always what she could to help out. Her generous, loving, and fearless heart has not failed to inspire those who knew her.
