Passed peacefully away after a stroke and a brief time fighting back, at the Placentia Health Care Hospital on Friday, March 01, 2013. Monica, a dedicated community worker and lover of life, almost made it to her 88th birthday. Predeceased by her parents: Suzanne and John Power; husband: Bernard and sons, McDermott and Vincent; her siblings, Kit, Mary, Margaret,Sarah, Rose, Leo, Bill, Jack, Jim, Mike and Edmund. Left to mourn: her last surviving sibling, Albert (Joan); her children: Rosemary (Duncan), Raymond (Eunice), Gerard, Bernard (Brenda), Francis (Anne), John (Yvonne), Donna and Donald. Grandchildren: Duncan, Dean, Dana, Corey, Vanessa, Caitlin, Arynne, Daniel, Jennifer, Heather, Jillian, Andrew, Matthew, Kyle and 14 great-grandchildren and a large circle of extended family and friends. Many thanks to the Health Sciences and Placentia Hospital teams for their exemplary care and attention and to her daughter-in-law, Yvonne, and children for all of their dedication. Resting at Maher’s Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation on Saturday from 1-4 p.m. and 6–9 p.m. and Sunday 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday, March 4 at 2 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Freshwater.
