MASON, BERNICE - Mrs. Bernice Ellen Jane Mason of Carsonville passed away peacefully at her home on March 2, 2013 at the age of 96. Born in Keirstead Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Maude (McFarlane) Kelly and wife of Joseph E. Mason who passed away in 1985. Bernice is survived by her daughters; Connie Hayes, Louise (Douglas) Cosman, Marilyn Phinney and Ann (Karst) Smit: her sons; Fred (Shirley) and John (Dorena); her daughter-in-law Carol, her sister Helen Hatfield, her brothers, Austin (Darlene) Kelly and Harris (Isabelle) Kelly, as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Bernice is predeceased by her husband, her son Bert, two infant children, three brothers: Ralph, Ashley and Arlington Kelly, three sisters: Olive Amos, Marjorie Mason and Mildred Logan, her sons-in-law: Delbert Hayes and Ernest Phinney, granddaughters; Valerie Bernice Hayes Jo-Ann Mason and great great granddaughter Gabrielle McMinniman.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) on March 4, 2012 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8. A service celebrating Bernice’s life will be held from Sussex Baptist Church today at 2:00 pm.
