Passed peacefully away on March 5, 2013 at the Caribou Veterans Pavilion. George Whittle, 81 years. Predeceased by his parents: William & Theresa Whittle; brother Leonard; sisters: Anne Marie & Marion (King), and special aunt Marion Squires. Leaving to mourn: his loving wife Hilda (Westcott) of 53 years; daughter Mary (Brian Houlihan); sons: William and Christopher; and loving grandchildren: Nadine, Nathan and Michael (deceased); brothers: Raymond (Gwen), and Wilfred (Germaine); sisters-in-law: Gloria Goobie (Gordon), Margaret Coady (Derm); brothers-in-law: Raymond (Barbara), Ralph (Esther), Victor (Florence, deceased), William (Betty), and Walter (Christine). George joined the Royal Canadian Navy at age 18 years and served in the Korean War. He retired after 25 years in the Navy. Upon retirement he operated a successful upholstery business (Ship Shape) for over 17 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branches #1 and # 36. Special thanks to the staff of the Pavilion for their loving care, especially Dr. Butler. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, with visitation Wednesday 7 - 9 p.m. and Thursday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral to take place on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Mary Queen of the World church, Topsail Road with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
