Patrick Breifni Ternan (1937-2013) of Belliveau Cove and Lawrencetown died March 2 in Dartmouth after a brief illness at the age of 75.
A native of Halifax, he grew up in Bedford and after graduating from Queen Elizabeth High School completed university studies at St. Francis Xavier University and St. Mary's University. He was a member of the Queen Elizabeth High School Pipe Band and was selected as one of the 100 pipers to participate in the opening ceremonies of the Canso Causeway.
He is survived by his daughter Jocelyn (Mike Giffin) of Herring Cove, sister Johanna of Halifax, brother Frank of Calgary, nephews Chris and Scott and their mother Patricia. He is also survived by his friend Kathleen (Black) Hines of Lawrencetown and will be missed by Sunny his golden retriever.
He was predeceased by his wife Yvette Marie (Doucet) in 2000.
A funeral mass was held Thursday March 7th at St. Anselm's Church West Chezzetcook at 11am. A tribute to Pat will take place at St. Joseph's Church in Weymouth on Wed. March 13 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donation will be accepted by the Meteghan Lions Club, Bide A While animal shelter, Dartmouth or your local animal shelter.
