SCHULTZ - Alberta Joyce Schultz passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Joyce was born on May 26, 1940, to Hewson & Dorothy Clark at Westhope, ND, USA. At the time of her birth, Westhope had the closest Nursing Home to her home-town of Lyleton, Manitoba. As a little girl, they moved to Ontario where her dad trained in the Air Force. When her dad was overseas, Joyce and her mom lived at her Grandpa Clark’s until her dad returned in 1946. They made the big move to a farm about three miles north of her Grandpa’s. It was there that she learned to ride horses and became very fond of animals, but mostly horses. Joyce was quite active in sports and enjoyed all types of sports. In her teen years, she attended Marvel Hairdressing School, graduated and became a hairdresser for a short while. Joyce married Eldon Schultz, from Herbert, SK in 1959. They moved to Ontario and in the spring of 1960, Corey was born with another son, Clark, born in 1965. In the fall of 1966, much to Joyce’s delight, the Schultz family moved to Saskatchewan, settling in Waldeck. A daughter, Heather, was born in 1968. In 1969, they bought a house in St. Aldwyn and raised their family in a country setting. Joyce started work in 1976, at the downtown Pioneer Co-op bakery, but due to ill health, she had to retire in 1983. On occasion, she also held other short-term cooking jobs. Joyce enjoyed being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, giving her great delight. Many of her children’s friends called her “mom”, and it made her very proud to know that young people still were respectful. Joyce was baptized in 1971, showing her love for Jesus Christ. Now in Joyce’s words, “I leave behind, not to mourn, but to rejoice”, my husband, Eldon; my children, Cory (Lisa), Clark (Bernadette), Heather (Jeff); my grandchildren, Tim, Michelle, Courtney, Nicole, Morgan, Sydney, Aaron, Shelby and Amanda; my great-grandchildren; brothers, Claire (Trish) and Mallo (Sandra); and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Hewson & Dorothy Clark; and by a brother, Gene. “He has lifted me up on wings like eagles and now I’m free!” The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 2:00 pm from the Community Baptist Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Joell Haugan and Pastor Mike Duguay officiating. Musicians for the service were Loreen Wiebe and Glory Bound. “In the Garden” and “Amazing Grace” were sung by the congregation. Pastor Mike read scripture from Isaiah 40:28-31, John 5:24, John 10:7-11, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, Psalm 40 and from 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17. The tribute was shared by Laurie-Kaye Jonas with Amanda Lee reading the obituary. Special music was brought by Glory Bound singing, “Knowing You’ll Be There” and by Rachelle Patzer singing, “Your Faithfulness”. The ushers in the church were Dale Brooks and Cornie Martens. The Interment Service preceded the Funeral Service and was held at the Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Wendell Patzer, Lyle Patzer, Darcy Patzer, Garth Shostal, Brian (Gus) Byam and Jarrod Clark. In memory of Joyce Schultz, donations made to World Vision or to the Community Baptist Benevolent Fund would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK. For further information or to sign the Family Book of Condolences, please go to swiftcurrentfuneralhome.com
