PURCELL, Elva Margaret, 81, Yarmouth (formerly of Halifax) passed away peacefully on March 11, 2013. Born in Halifax she was the only child of Edward and Mary Kaye nee MacIntosh. Although Halifax was where she resided, Cape Breton was home to her heart and soul. She was a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral in Yarmouth as well as the Catholic Women’s League. The vast majority of her professional career was spent working for the Provincial Government of Nova Scotia at the Law Courts in Halifax. There she was a court reporter and later secretary to the Chief Justice of Nova Scotia. She was predeceased by husband James as well as her special aunt, Sarah May nee MacIntosh, with whom she spent many summer vacations with in Cape Breton. She leaves behind six children; Sherelanne (John), Toronto; Susan (Eduardo) Melbourne, Australia; Judy, Lunenburg; Daniel (Tina), Gander, Newfoundland; Lisa, Rose Bay; Anne (Scott), Yarmouth. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren; Kate, Lucas, Daniel, Christopher, Eva, Emelyn and Sonya.Funeral mass was held at Saint John the Baptist Church 10 am Friday March 15, 2013, 26 Purcell’s Cove Rd, Halifax. Interment was in Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery, Portuguese Cove. A special thanks to her caregivers especially Amanda, Kim, and Diane.
