WIGNESS: Eileen E. Wigness, aged 88 years, formerly of Admiral, Saskatchewan, passed away Monday March 11, 2013 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. She was born on September 7, 1924 in the Andersonville, Saskatchewan District where she also attended school. She began work at an ammunitions factory in Regina during World War II when she was able to convince them to hire her despite the fact she wasn’t actually old enough. Afterwards, she returned to Admiral where she worked at Elliott’s Store until she married Johnny on June 14, 1949. They raised five children and farmed until retirement to Swift Current in 1985. They were married for 57 years. Eileen was a very hard worker who spent as much time outside as she could, helping with the farm work as well as doing yard work. Her perfectionism and creativity shone through in her crocheting and embroidery which she was known for in the community. She believed any job, no matter how big or small, was worth doing well or not at all. She loved flowers, plants and trees and worked tirelessly to create a pretty yard for us all. She helped out with community events whenever possible. She enjoyed baseball and curling in her early years and bowling in her retirement. She and Johnny participated in several bus tours across the country and in to the states. She also enjoyed playing whist and bingo in her retirement and spent many hours playing Yahtzee when she wasn’t able to get out in her later years. She was predeceased by her husband Johnny in 2006, her mother Essie Anderson (nee Grant) in 1979, her father Newell Anderson in 1983, her brother Arnold Anderson and her sister Marion Kunnick. She leaves to mourn her five children: Barbara Freel (Raymond) of Eastend, Myron of Calgary, Kurt (Arlene Hiltz) of Admiral, Cathy Paul (Richard) of Saskatoon and Lisa McGovern (Paul Elder) of Port Alberni, BC; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild as well as by four nieces and four nephews. Funeral Services were held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Admiral with Pastor Greg Kiel officiating. Ushers were Lacey Wigness and Kristin Wigness. Interment took place at Admiral Cemetery. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Darren Scansen, Merek Wigness, Brennan Paul, Adam Wigness, Jim Wightman, and Abderrahim Mejjat.
