On Tuesday, March 5, 2013, Peter H. Howcroft passed away suddenly at home in Port Kirwan, Newfoundland, surrounded by his loving and caring wife Helene and son Peter J. He was born February 4, 1943 in Gravesend Kent, England. Starting at the young age of fifteen, he became a world traveled seaman. He worked his way up from deckhand to logistic officer in the English Merchant Navy. He later followed his career path as a logistic officer in the Canadian Coast Guard, continuing to meet and influence many lives along the way. Peter was predeceased by his mother, Kathleen, father, Stanley and step-mother, Doris. He will be sadly missed by brother John with wife Linda, niece Tanya and Aunt Gladys along with relatives and friends from England. Here in Canada, he leaves behind his grieving mother-in-law Stella Dupuis, with Helene’s family, the Laurin’s, Blouin’s, Dennison’s, and Miller’s and many friends. He will also be fondly remembered by friends and neighbours from Tors Cove and the little seaside cove, Port Kirwan, where he enjoyed living near the sea.
