Gary ‘Red’ Leighton, 65, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2013 in Windsor, Ontario. Born in Windsor, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Burton and Winnie (Young) Leighton. Gary is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lynn (Porter), daughters Heather (Steve) Kirincic, Andrea (Frank) Varady and granddaughter, Sydney Kirincic. Also surviving are sister, Betty (Greg) of Windsor, NS and brothers Douglas (Diane) of Ingleside, Ont., Wayne (Angela) of Falmouth, Robert (Paulette) of Poplar Grove, Bill (Heather) of Lunenburg, and Rick (Cheryl) of Martock. Gary was Parts Manager of Dan Kane Chevrolet, Windsor, Ont. for over 30 years. Previously he was employed at Canadian Tire in Ontario and Nova Scotia. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing numerous musical instruments, liked travelling and especially enjoyed returning to Nova Scotia to see family and friends. A Celebration of Life was held in Windsor, Ontario on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Cremation has taken place.
