KRAUSE-Glen “Allen” aged 51 years of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan following his courageous battle with cancer. Allen leaves behind his best friend and wife, Judy, of 27 years and his two children, Tyson and Brooklyn, who meant the world to him. Also surviving Allen are his parents, Glenn and Doremis, his sister Wanda (Garry) Larose, his brother David (Vicky) Krause, Marcene (mother-in-law) Kirkpatrick, in-laws Brenda (Darcy) Kirkpatrick, Karen (Keith) Stennick, David (Nicole) Kirkpatrick, as well as other extended family. He was one of the favorite uncles to many nieces and nephews. Allen was born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan on December 14, 1961. He graduated from Shaunavon High School, attended the Saskatchewan Technical Institute in Moose Jaw for welding and later received a diploma in Agriculture from the University of Saskatchewan. Allen enjoyed a career that spanned over thirty years in the oilfield. In his early years, he was employed as a welder with Joe Starj, Elmer Kjeldsli and Marvin Fuller. In the mid 1980’s, Allen and Judy started their own company, Krause Welding, which later became Krause Ventures Ltd. Allen enjoyed working in the oil patch and was grateful for the many friendships that formed over the years. Allen’s passion was farming. He was raised and worked on the farm. He was employed by Sogn Brothers as a farm-labourer while he attended high school and later rented land from neighbor Ralph Howe. Allen and Judy bought their first quarter of land a few short years later. In 1998, they purchased and moved to the family farm south of Shaunavon, where they raised their family. Allen had many interests. He enjoyed traveling, hockey, football, hunting, fishing, curling, skiing, camping, playing cards, and spending time with his family at the lake. He was a longtime member of the Elks club, served on the Jubilee Rink Board and was a Minor Hockey representative. Allen was involved in the community and enjoyed volunteering at a number of events. Allen was smart, kind, loving, positive and possessed a great sense of humour. He was hard working and a jack of all trades. He was a great man who was loved by many and will be deeply missed. The Funeral Service was held at Centre Street United Church in Shaunavon on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Ken Schrag officiating. Allen’s friends, Tim Haubrich and Marty Meloche presented the eulogy. The Hunter Brothers performed special music at the service. Honorary Pallbearers were Kerry Kronberg, James Bateman, Victor Ross, Darrell Bellefeuille, Craig Wilkins and Richard Whyte. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Shaunavon at a later date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Binkley's Funeral Service of Shaunavon.
