KRAHN - Dale Gordon Krahn was born on January 31, 1953, in Swift Current, SK, one of three children born to George and Jessie Krahn. Dale passed away on March 29, 2013, in his sleep at home. He grew up on the family farm in the McMahon district. Dale started his education at Iris school, continued it at Wymark School, and then completed his high school education at the Swift Current Comprehensive High School. He attended one semester at Millar College of the Bible before officially starting his farming career. Starting with a herd of Hereford cows, Dale was farming full-time by 1972. Along with his brother Kelvin, they started a dairy in 1974, which they worked at together for 35 years. Caring for his animals gave Dale great pleasure and fulfillment. Along with his cows; he also operated a grain farm. He enjoyed growing a variety of pulse and cereal crops. More recently, he enjoyed restoring the farm buildings on the home place with the help of his friend Ken. His Christian faith was very important to him. Upon confession of his faith, he was baptized in 1970. Growing up, he faithfully attended Sunday school and youth group at the Christian Fellowship Church in Rhineland. He worked in Awana and served as Sunday School secretary. In later years he attended Trailview Alliance Church where he served as a church board member, ushering, and being part of small group ministry which was a source of friendship and inspiration to Dale. He was very generous and supported several different charities which took him to Cuba twice to encourage missionary friends in their work there. He is predeceased by his Dad, George Krahn in 1985; nephew, Jeffrey Krahn in 1982; and brother-in-law Art Olfert in 2011. He is survived by his Mom, Jessie Krahn; brother, Kelvin (Elaine) Krahn; sister, Wanda Olfert; nieces and nephews, Korvin Olfert, Karalee (David) Johnson, Kamrin (Sandi) Olfert, Kimberlee (Nicholas) Koltun, Jared (Stacey) Krahn, Janelle Krahn, Heather Krahn (Paul Durie); and his 10 great nieces and nephews, Kaylee Johnson, Bianca Olfert, Alan Johnson, Sophia Olfert, Alexandria Olfert, Kenan Johnson, Benjamin Olfert, Zaylah Krahn, Micaiah Krahn and Dathan Johnson. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 10:00 am from Trailview Alliance Churh, Swift Current, SK with Rev. Alvin Buhler officiating and Blair Froese was the MC. The pianist for the service was Lois Klassen with John Regier leading the congregational songs, “How Great Thou Art” and “I’d Rather Have Jesus”. A tribute was shared by John Kehler and Richard Knelsen read the obituary. Special music was brought by Ben and Helena Funk and John Regier singing, “When the Roses Never Fade” and “Near to the Heart of God”. The Interment Service was held at the Rosenort Cemetery, with the following serving as pallbearers, Harvey Lomax, Gordon Peters, Harry Friesen, John Kehler, Rodney Gamble, and Ken Braun.
