MUELLER - Joyce Althea Mueller (nee Hanson) was a long-time resident of Swift Current, Saskatchewan. She passed away after a brief battle with cancer at the Cypress Hills Regional Hospital on Saturday March 30, 2013. Joy was born in McBride B.C. on November 5, 1955. She was adopted into the loving family of Charles and Helen Hanson. Joy had the opportunity to live all over Canada and in the U.S.A where she made many friends. Joy married Lindsay Mueller on December 1, 1983 and they were happily married for almost 30 years. Together they raised four wonderful daughters whom Joy took much pride in and enjoyed spoiling very much. In her free time Joy enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidery, and knitting. She was an amazing cook and well known for her delicious apple and pumpkin pies. She enjoyed reading, movies and sci-fi tv shows, and evenings at the Eagles club playing cards and visiting with friends. Joy had the opportunity to travel extensively visiting Brazil, Las Vegas, Belize, Barbados, Mexico, Hawaii, the Cayman Islands, several cruises, and most recently a month long trip to Europe and 10 days in New Orleans. Joy is survived by her husband Lindsay, her daughters Melissa (Lyle), Marissa (Derek) and Kristie, grandchildren Dolan and Emmersyn, and brothers and sisters Glenn, Roy, Daryl, Eileen, Gayle, and Cheryl. She is predeceased by her parents Charles and Helen Hanson, daughter Charmaine, and father-in-law John Mueller. Joy will forever be remembered by her large family of cousins and nieces and nephews. Joy was a caring mother, devoted wife, and true and loving friend. She was always willing to volunteer her time and put others before herself. She will be remembered for her lovely smile and boisterous laugh. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 2:00 pm from the East Side Church of God, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Kevan Baum officiating. The Interment Service was held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK, with the following serving as pallbearers, Lyle Jensen, Kevin Vander Kooy, Jake Janzen, Derek Wolfe, Jesse Hofer, and Gord Sauder. In memory of Joy Mueller, donations made to the Swift Current SPCA, in lieu of flowers, or gifts of food, would be appreciated by the family.
