LICH: Doreen Margaret (Wedrick) Lich was born to Lyle and Annie Wedrick at home on the farm near Carmichael on December 2, 1938 and passed away March 30, 2013 at the Special Care Home in Gull Lake at the age of 74. She is survived by 4 children: Rhonda (Robert) Congdon, Sandra (Calvin) Dyer, Patricia (Douglas) Wiebe, Leslie Lich (Melissa); 9 grandchildren Colton and Samy Congdon, Dallas (Sharisse) and Shane (Kara) Dyer, Alisha and Sheldon Wiebe, Taylon Elderkin, Skylar Pahtayken and Ajah Natowcappa; 3 great-grandchildren Hayley and Austin Dyer, Ryker Stretch; one sister Verna (Dave) Roberts; two brothers Howard (Marj) Wedrick and Donald (Greta) Wedrick; one aunt Janet Bublitz and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Doreen was predeceased by her husband Elmer, her brother George and her parents Lyle and Annie. Doreen was raised on the farm and attended school in Carmichael. She became a Registered Nurse after 3 years of training at Medicine Hat Hospital and nursed for many years in both active and long term care. She married Elmer Lich July 7, 1961 in Gull Lake and they farmed south of Gull Lake on the bench until Elmer passed away from cancer on October 20, 1993. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and scrapbooking. She contributed to community history books and community organizations. Doreen always volunteered in the Gull Lake community. But of course the major highlight would have been her family spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her home was always open and waiting for family and extended family to visit. The Funeral Service was held Thursday, April 4, 2013 from Knox United Church, Gull Lake, SK with Reverend Marie Barr officiating. Music was preformed by Millie Spagrud, Nora Rudolph and King Gin, accompanied by the Knox United Church Choir. Life Tributes were presented by Terri Navid, Denise Rosca and Alisha Wiebe. The Ushers were Rhonda Bradley, Marie Hanson, Cheryle Grimshaw and Janet Wickstrom. The Pallbearers were Ray Wedrick, Ron Wedrick, Les Lich, Mark Lich, Mike Hayes and Greg Hayes. The Interment Service took place at the Gull Lake Cemetery. In Doreen's memory, memorial donations may be made to the Gull Lake Special Care Centre Auxiliary or the Knox United Church Memorial Fund.
