It is with heavy hearts that the family of Francis Thomas Rose announce his passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the age of 88 years. He is mourned by his 11 children: Earl (Florence), Eddie (Eleanor), Kenny, Tom (Joanne), Ronnie (Paula), Mary Wagner (Mike), Elaine Lidstone, Jean McKay (Willie), Hazel Lepski (Gary), Peggy Nurse (Tom), Donna Rose (Corey) and their mother Eva Rose, his 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren. Francis was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia and moved to Stephenville in 1929. He is survived by his sisters: Josephine O’Quinn and Zella Walsh. He was predeceased by his sisters: Clara, Doris and Edna and brothers: Harold, Francis and Gordon. He is remembered as an avid hunter and worked most of his life as a sawyer and farmer. His hard work and foresight created Rose Farms. He was a proud independent man who cherished his home and his family. His passing will be marked by his family with visitation at Russell’s Funeral Home, 57 Prince Rupert Drive, Stephenville on Wednesday, April 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, April 11th at 1:30 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Parish, West Street, Stephenville with Interment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Hansen Highway, Stephenville. Sincere appreciation is expressed to the staff of Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital and Father Tim Moriarity for their kindness.
