MILLER, ROY CLIFFORD - (1927 - 2013) - Mr. Roy C. Miller of North Head Grand Manan Island passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital Monday April 8, 2013. He was born at North Head Grand Manan the son of the late Lloyd and Blanche (Beal) Miller. In his childhood he attended the North Head Wesleyan Church Sunday School, and later was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was an avid supporter of the North Head and Castalia baseball teams when baseball was a popular summer sport on Grand Manan, and he also enjoyed watching hockey. He made his life’s work from the sea as a fisherman and also worked as a butcher for D.K. Morse Ltd. in North Head and also at the Newton Store in Grand Harbour. He is survived by his daughter Megan E. Lucas (George) of Quispamsis. Two granddaughters; Morgan and Hayley. His two sisters; Margaret Urquhart (Ray) of North Head, and Geraldine Benson (Lawrence) of Seal Cove. Also their family friend Jennifer Robinson, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Edith in 2010, and also three brothers Merrill, Harley, and Robert.
Visiting will take place from the North Head Wesleyan Church on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place from the church on Thursday April 11, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Jasper Rideout officiating. Interment will follow at the North Head Community Cemetery. There will be a reception following at the church and all are welcome to attend for a time of fellowship and refreshment. Roy’s family has requested donations may be made to the North Head Wesleyan Church or to the Grand Manan Rotary Club.
