George 'Reggie' Brewer

George ‘Reggie’ Brewer, 61, Pugwash, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst.
Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late George and Elizabeth (Timmons) Brewer.
George attended Reserve District High School and later went to St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish. While there he was diagnosed with a mental illness — which led to a life of confinement in, and out of institutions. For the past 10 years George made his home at the Sunset Community in Pugwash. There he was treated well and made many friends.
A gentle soul, always respectful and kind to everyone, he was a man who loved to put a smile on your face by telling one of his many jokes. George also enjoyed writing poems, mostly concerning life itself. He will be greatly missed by his family and community of friends at Sunset.
Surviving are siblings, Rosalie Gouthro, Sheldon Brewer, both of Cape Breton, Elizabeth Reid, Debbie Mallet, Margaret Xerri, Geraldine Begin, Joseph Brewer, Gerrard Brewer, all in Ontario, Carl Brewer, Alberta, Brenda Burton, Newfoundland.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Paul.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
