ROBERT HENRY DALGLEISH

ROBERT HENRY DALGLEISH

Lieu de naissance : Kamloops, Colombie Britannique, Canada
Date de naissance : 8 août 1928

Date de décès : 5 avril 2013

It is with love and great sadness that Bob's family announces his passing at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice in Kamloops on April 5, 2013.

Bob was born in Kamloops, B.C. on August 8, 1928 to Henry (Harry) and Mary I (May Grindrod) Dalgleish. He grew up in Kamloops attending Stuart Wood and graduating from Kamloops High School. He was a busy observant lad and knew Kamloops and the surrounding area intimately. Bob studied agriculture at the UBC before settling into a lifetime of ranching. Bob was married to his best friend Elizabeth (Betty) Haywood-Farmer on April 12, 1955, and they spent most of their wonderful ranching years at Indian Gardens Ranch, Savona, B.C, before retiring to Savona in 1983 and then to Kamloops in 2004.

Bob was a positive thinker and a doer! In his youth he skied, skated, golfed, hunted, curled and worked many part-time jobs. He loved his childhood family outings to Lac le Jeune and Sorrento. Many of his early antics included his cousins Jack Grindrod or Ian Dalgleish, and brother Andrew. As a teen, the ranching bug bit him while working for George Little's father, Jack, at Goose Lake. With Betty, he implemented innovative farming at Indian Gardens Ranch and quietly applied his gifted animal sense. He was a mentor to all those who had an opportunity to work with him. He was a regular at the BC Livestock Co-op Tuesday sales. He and lifetime friend Dick Reid always caught "opening day" of hunting season. Later in life, golf and curling became focuses once again. His historical recall of the region proved valuable to the TNRD Planning Commission. Bob greeted one and all with a warm hearty hello! Bob was known for his descriptive way of wording things, forcing one to ponder his true meaning.

Bob is survived by his wonderful wife Betty, his children Allison (Alan Saucier), Donald (Melanie McIntosh), Mary Ellen (Steven Pringle) and Janis (Don Mah); his grandchildren: Ben and Sara Pringle and Erin, James and Carmen Saucier; his brother Andrew Dalgleish (Roberta), in-laws Frank, Betty and Peggy Haywood-Farmer, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, particularly David Haywood-Farmer (Bonnie).

A Tea to share memories of Bob will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Parkside Lounge at the Interior Savings Centre, 300 Lorne Street.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bob to the Kamloops Hospice Association, 72 Whiteshield Cres. S., Kamloops, V2E 2S9.

The family is most grateful for the care Bob received at the Hospice.
