Leo Cloutier

CLOUTIER, LEO JOSEPH - It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of Leo Joseph Cloutier of Canterbury, NB on Monday, April 8th 2013 at the Moncton Hospital. Born January 30, 1936 in Price, PQ, he was the son of the late Leon and Beatrice Cloutier. Leo moved to Canterbury in 1973, where he was employed in the forestry industry for various contractors in the area from which he retired in 1988. He later served as the Mayor of Canterbury for 13 years which he truly enjoyed and accomplished many great things for the Village. He also served as volunteer on the St. John Ambulance for many years. Leo loved sports and enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, golf, bowling and spent several years coaching minor hockey and little league baseball. In 2012 he was chosen to receive the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee award. Leo is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Shirley (Grant), two daughters Tanya Cloutier (Tony) of Canterbury, NB, Sylvie Jutras (Michel) of Montreal, PQ, one son Brian Cloutier (Holle) of New Maryland, NB, eleven beloved grandchildren (whom he referred to as his pieces of gold) Frederic and Cynthia Jutras, Veronique and Sebastian Cloutier, Alain Cloutier, Shayna, Aliyah and Liam Cloutier, Taylor Cloutier, Marlee and Emma Green, one brother, Claude Cloutier (Micheline), three sisters Carmen L’Imbeault, Noella Cloutier (Dominique) and Lise Landry, five brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Jean Eudes Cloutier and one sister Jacqueline Beland.
Visitation will take place at Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main St. Woodstock, NB on Thursday, April 11th 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held from Scott Funeral Home on Friday April 12, 2013 at 2 pm with Rev. Greg Williams officiating. For those who wish donations may be made to the St. Mark’s United Church. We would like to extend out heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Majoomdar, the nurses and staff of Moncton Hospital who went above and beyond in providing care, comfort and guidance to Leo and our family. www.scottfh.com
