BLACK, BERTHA - Mrs. Bertha Eileen Black of Hunter's Home passed away on April 10, 2013 at the age of 92. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret Jane Barton Wood and the wife of the late Irvine Black who passed away in 1983. Bertha is survived by two daughters: Barbara McNamara of Hampton and Joyce Corey (Victor) of Sussex; two sons: Wayne Black (Roxann) and Stuart Black (Eleanor) both of Hunter's Home; as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Bertha was the last surviving member of her family, she is predeceased by her brothers; Bill, John, Gordon, Lloyd, Donald, Chessman and Scott Wood and her sisters; Eva Verrill, Marguerite Corey, Viola Black, Marion Wood her son-in-law John McNamara; and her grandson-in-aw Andrew.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) on Friday 1 to 3, 6 to 8pm. A service celebrating Bertha’s life will be held from New Canaan Baptist Church on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm. The interment will take place at Canaan Forks Cemetery.
