It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of John James Hall, 55, of New Waterford on April 9, 2013, at the New Waterford Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, he was a son of Winnie (Slaney) Hall and the late John ‘Big Dan’ Hall.
John was mechanically inclined and used his knowledge to work on several vehicles over the years. He also put his hand to refurbishing old or antique furniture. John enjoyed fishing, playing Poker Stars online and a good cup of tea. Nothing, however, could compare to spending quality time with his family and, of course, his two dogs, Max and Sasha.
Surviving are his common-law wife, Shauna Pozzebon and her children, Andrew and Katlyn, whom John raised as his own; children, Kim (Kevan), Sydney, J.J. (Serena), P.E.I., Sean, New Waterford, and their mother, Diane White; son, Brandon, New Waterford; brothers, Ambose, Bernie and Dougie, all of New Waterford; sisters, Beatrice (Robert) Marshe, Cheryl (Mark) Murphy, both of New Waterford, Gail (Billy), Alice (David), Rose, all of Glace Bay; grandchildren, Michael, Kelsie, Breaghanna, Alex, Tyler and Marshall; sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and close friends. John truly loved his children, grandchildren and stepchildren and will be sorely missed by them all.
John was predeceased by his father, John ‘Big Dan’ Hall.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Saturday, April 13 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit 217, New Waterford.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Cancer Patient Care Fund at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
