Howard Janes
JANES, HOWARD FREDERICK - At St. Joseph’s Hospital, on Thursday, April 11, 2013, Howard F. Janes passed away. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (Lyons) Janes, Howard was born in Dipper Harbour, NB., a son of the late Percy and Edna (Craft) Janes. For the first fifteen years of his career, Howard was employed by Canadian Pacific Railway. He then spent eleven years with Scovil’s Transfer, finally becoming a contractor for the New Brunswick Telephone Company until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Trinity Anglican Church in Maces Bay and in his earlier days, a member of the Dipper Harbour Rowing Team. Howard also played softball, pitching for nearly 40 years for various city teams. In addition to his loving wife Howard is survived by his sons Brent (Ann) Janes, Oakville, ON and Bruce (Collette) Janes, Saskatoon, SK; daughter Cheryl (Peter) Kyle, Saint John, NB; brothers Harvey (Kay) Janes, Saint John, NB., Dewey (Cathy) Janes, Dipper Harbour, NB., and Eugene Janes, Saint John, NB; sister-in-law Barbara Janes, Saint John, NB; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Howard was also predeceased by his brothers Ronald, Reginald, Kenneth and Perry; sisters Alberta Janes, Elsie Nordahl, Flora Downey and Wilhemine Flewelling.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road. (646-2424) A memorial gathering celebrating Howard’s life will take place Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Fundy Funeral Home at 7 pm.
