Sulamit Kohn
KOHN, SULAMIT - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sulamit Kohn (nee Lewi), peacefully in her sleep at home, on Friday, April 12, 2013. Born in Poland in 1928, she was a courageous survivor of Nazi concentration camps during World War II. Though most of her family was stolen from her at that time, she had the spirit, love and courage to create her life anew. She married the love of her life, Joseph, on December 12, 1948 in London, England, and emigrated to Canada with him in 1949 where they settled in Moncton, NB in 1958. She was an amazing, creative seamstress - clothes, figure skating and ballet costumes, draperies – and an avid knitter, creating works of art for those she loved and who loved her. Everyone who knew her could not help but be touched and inspired by her warmth of spirit, sweetness, love and humour. Sulamit will be sadly missed by her husband of 64 years, Joseph; her daughter, Caroline, of Grande-Digue; her son, Harold and daughter-in-law, Nancy, of Ottawa, ON; her devoted care-giver, Joy Cabilin; her sister, Hannah Aisenstadt of Long Island, NY; her niece, Sylvia Aisenstadt Ovadia of Massachusetts and her niece, Sylvia Kohn, of British Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at Tiferes Israel Synagogue on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Tiferes Israel Cemetery. Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) in care of arrangements. Online condolences at www.fergusonknowlesfh.com
