Passed peacefully away with his family by his side at the Hoyles P.C. Unit, after a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Alick was a retired employee of the LSPU and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Alick was the eldest son of Charles and Flora. Predeceased by his brothers Philip, Don and Les, his sisters Maureen and Sheila and his sister-in-law Olga. .Leaving to mourn with heartfelt sorrow and many cherished memories his beloved wife of 61 years, Louise Ella (nee Turnbull); loving daughter Vivian; cherished sons: Terry (Marg), Gary (Bonnie), Barry (Lynn), and Boyd; grandchildren: Shawn (Julie), Kenny (Faren), Terry-Lynn, and Christopher; great-grandson Logan; sister Joan (Ray) Bowe; brothers: Gerry, Allen, Ralph (Dot), Wallace (Peg); sisters-in-law: Patricia and Lorraine; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends – including lifetime friend Gordon (Louise) Morgan, whose friendship and loyalty has spanned over 73 years, his hunting buddies Dr. Paul Walsh and Alex Finn, and his many friends and co-workers at the LSPU. Our family wishes to express our most sincere appreciation to the staff of Hoyles PCU for your words of support and the wonderful care you have extended to our family during this difficult time. We were blessed to have such caring people with our dad. We always felt as if we were surrounded by a loving family. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Saturday, April 13, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, April 14, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Cochrane Street United Church on Monday, April 15, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. As expressions of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted, or donations may be made in Alick’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of NL, Children’s Lunch Program, or Beagle Paws.
