Mary Murphy (McGillivary)
Lieu de naissance : Glace Bay
Date de décès : 11 avril 2013
It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, loyal companion, and devoted friend, Mary Murphy.
Mary passed away peacefully in her home on April 11, 2013 in the loving presence of her adoring family.
She was born in Glace Bay to loving grandparents, John and Mary Anne McGillivary, and mother Annie Mae, all of whom are now deceased.
Mary dedicated thirty nine years to Scotiabank where she enjoyed a successful career and made lifelong friends who provided her with much comfort and companionship in her last months.
Since her retirement in 2010, Mary not only made several trips to BC to visit her children, but also toured Europe and journeyed to Las Vegas, Rhode Island, and most recently to Vancouver Island for her son Rob's marriage.
Mary was an extraordinary woman whose courage and tenacity will be an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her, and for Lane and Robbie, she will always be their hero and the strongest person they will ever know.
Mary will be deeply missed by her loving children; daughter Lane (Ken) Walker, B.C.; son Rob (Lindsey) Murphy, B.C. and by her long- time partner, Ross MacQuarrie, Coxheath. Mary is also survived by her two adoptive twin sisters, Joan (McDonald) Murphy and Joyce McDonald, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her mother and grandparents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Joseph Anthony McGillivary, whom she cherished, and her two step sisters, Patricia (McDonald) Appleby and Claire (McDonald) Neary, all of Glace Bay.
To honor Mary's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction and care of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St. Glace Bay. A private scattering of ashes on the Bras d’Or Lakes will take place at a later date.
Memorial donations in Mom's memory can be made to the V.O.N, C.B.R.H. Palliative Care Unit or the charity of one's choice.
Online expressions of sympathy can be made to www.vjmcgillivray.ca.

Love Forever and Always, Ross
Your arms were always open when we needed a hug.
Your heart understood when we needed a friend.
Your gentle eyes were stern when we needed a lesson.
Your strength and love has guided us and gave us wings to fly.
