Robert "Bob" Alden

ALDEN, BGen ROBERT (BOB) - After a long illness BGen Robert (Bob) Alden OMM, CD passed away on 12 April 2013 in Kingston, Ontario. He was born in Nauwigewauk, New Brunswick. He was married for 48 years to Jane, father to Patrick, Joel (Nancy), loving grandfather to Noah, Carolyn, Anika and Scarlett. He will also be missed by his sisters Louise Scott and Patricia Oliver both of Saint John, his brother John Alden of Calgary, his step brothers and sisters who live in New Brunswick and many nieces and nephews. Bob proudly served in the Canadian Army from 1957-1995. He started his career with the Canadian Black Watch (RHC). Upon their disbandment joined the Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR). He also served in the Canadian Airborne Regiment (CAR and 3 Mech CDO). He and his family have had numerous postings across Canada from Nova Scotia to Alberta as well as many years in Germany. Since retirement in 1995 Bob and Jane have lived in Glenburnie (Kingston) between travels to Australia and much of Europe.
A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 3pm on Wednesday, April 17 at Fort Frontenac Officers’ Mess (317 Ontario Street, Kingston, Ontario). The family wish to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at Saint Elizabeth, Kingston General Hospital and St. Mary’s of the Lake for their care and compassion. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
