Wilhelmina (Willa) Johanna Kreffer (Schalks)
Wilhelmina (Willa) Johanna Kreffer (Schalks), 86, of the Valley View Villa, Riverton and formerly of Ellis St., New Glasgow passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Friday April 19, 2013 in the Villa.
Born in Leiden, Holland on June 10, 1926.
She was the daughter of the late Jan and Johanna Schalks.
Mom married dad, the love of her life on May 16, 1950. They came to Canada in 1952 and moved to Saskatchewan and from there moved to Nova Scotia and New Glasgow where they raised their family.
Mom was an avid bowler, she enjoyed bowling with the Westville Heritage Club. She could sew and knit without looking at a pattern.
Her greatest joy in life was her family especially when the grandchildren came along.
Mom and dad enjoyed many travels and adventures. They returned to Europe many times and also trips to Western Canada and Florida .
Surviving are her children: Lia (Al) LeClair of New Glasgow, John (Delia) of Lyons Brook, Andy (Laurie) of New Glasgow, Dianne (Peter) White of Plymouth Park, Marianne (Ivan) Robertson of New Glasgow and Michael (Doreen) of Stellarton. Grandchildren: Heather Kreffer (David), Mark and Leslie Kreffer; Peter White (Suzanne), Lia Lewis (Cal) and Joey White (Kerri); Nicole Robertson (Greg) and Eric Robertson; great granddaughter Claire White and two sisters in Holland.
She was predeceased by her husband William Adrian (Bill) Kreffer in 2008
Her remains will rest in the H.W.Angus Funeral Home for visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Donations may be made in her memory to a charity of one’s choice.
A reception will follow the service in the Sister Catherine Steele Centre.
