van RAALTE, PATRICIA ANN, B. Ed., M. Ed. - May 15, 1943 - April 19, 2013 - The passing of Patricia Ann van Raalte occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Friday, April 19, 2013, surrounded by her family. Born in Edmundston, NB, she was the daughter of the late George and Ethel (Bradley) MacCallum and was predeceased by her sisters, Kathleen McAuley, Mary Jean Gardner and Betty Kerr. Pat is survived by her husband, Gerrit; son, Dr. Gregory MacCallum (Dana), Charlottetown, PEI; stepsons, James (Natasha), Ottawa, ON, Matthew (Rachel), Fredericton, NB; sister, Myrtle Daubney, Ottawa, ON; and grandsons, Jeremy, Josh, Koen and Grayson. She was a loving and caring aunt to many special nieces and nephews. Pat taught at Park Street School from 1965 to 1977, and then moved to Nashwaaksis Junior High (Middle School) when it opened in 1977 until her retirement as a Guidance Counselor in 1998. She set the bar high for all with grace and compassion, and many lives have been enriched by her personal touch. In retirement, her focus was her family and her Newfoundland dogs.
Visitation will be at McAdams Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 23 from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 pm. A Service celebrating Pat’s life will be held at Brunswick Street Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 24 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Terry Atkinson and Rev. Greg Geldart officiating. A reception will be held at the church after the service. Committal will take place after the reception for family only. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Brunswick Street Baptist Church Building Fund or the Chalmers Regional Hospital Foundation. Personal condolences may be made through www.mcadams.com
