The death occurred peacefully at her home in North Wiltshire on Saturday, April 20, 2013, of Erma Blanche Oakes (nee MacRae), in her 86th year. Erma was the beloved wife of the late Charles Oakes, and is lovingly remembered her children, Wayne (Linda), Joyce MacPhee, Faye Weeks (Donald), Kent and Darlene; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brothers, Norman MacRae (the late Muriel), Bennett MacRae (the late Irene) and Hugh MacRae (Gloria); her sisters-in-law, Betty Jeffrey, Esta MacLean (Fred Vigneau) and Patricia Oakes; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her husband, Charles Oakes, Erma was predeceased by her parents, William and Ada (Paynter) MacRae; her brother, Borden; sisters, Eileen and Marion; and her great-granddaughter, Chalyce Meek. Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Rd., New Glasgow, for visitation on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at Central Queen's Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at 2 p.m. Interment later at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley.
