It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Hattie Mae Murrant, age 78, of Glace Bay. Hattie passed away on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, Hattie was the daughter of the late Colin and Sue (Somerton) Bond. As a past time, she enjoyed needle work and doing various crafts.
Hattie is survived by a son, Kevin (Lynda) Murrant, Glace Bay; brother, Leonard (Sis) Bond, Glace Bay; sisters, Rita (Chester) Clements, Glace Bay, Jean (Jerry) Morrison, Oshawa, Ont.; sisters-in-law, Jenny and Shirley, both of Glace Bay. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Hattie was predeceased by her husband, Michael; brothers, Allie, Buddie and two brothers in infancy, Colin and Harry and a sister, Ada.
In honouring Hattie’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 at the funeral home chapel with Corps Sergeant Major Fred Courtney officiating. Interment will be in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Hattie’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
