STEPHENS, GARY W. - 1946 - 2013 - It is with deep sadness that we regret to announce the sudden passing of Gary W. Stephens, age 66, of Sackville. Gary passed away at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Tuesday April 23, 2013. Born in Sackville, NB, he was a son of the late Hugh and Phyllis (Buck) Stephens. Gary was extremely dedicated to giving back to his community. He was a proud member of the Sackville Fire Department for twenty-five years where he acted as secretary treasurer. In his spare time, he had been very active in the Sackville United Church, sitting on various committees, and led the Camp Committee in the maintenance and organization of Camp Wegwamageek for local Girl Guides. He will be sadly missed by his wife Hazel (nee Wells) Stephens, Sackville; daughters Paula (Steven) O'Brien, Saint John, Angela (Jeremy) Nicholson, Fredericton and Kimberly of Halifax; four grandchildren, Mitchell, Katherine, Trent and Isaac; one brother Richard, Amherst; sister in law Donna Stephens, Sackville; as well as his close friend and cousin, Donald Crossman. Besides his parents, Gary was predeceased by a sister, Mary, and brothers, Roy, Ronald and Robert.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of the Jones Family at Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) where visiting hours will take place Friday from 6 to 9 pm. The funeral will be held at the Jones Funeral Home on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11 am. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery.
