It is with great sadness we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our mother, Joann Marie Gallant on April 30, 2013.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Dan Willie and Jennie (Burke) McNeil. She was a member of the former St. Michael's parish, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. In earlier years, Joann enjoyed bowling with her close friends.
Surviving are daughters, Diane, Melissa, Jennifer, all of New Waterford, Frances, Sydney; six grandchildren, Sam, Gabriel, Emily, Brandon, Ayden, and Victoria; brothers, Jim (Sandra), New Brunswick, Albert 'Beano' (Effie), Dan Willie, both of New Waterford; many nieces, nephews and cousins; sisters-in-law, Mary Richardson, Ont., Cassie McNeil, Gardiner; brother-in-law, Fred (Mary) Gallant, Glace Bay.
Besides her parents, Joann was predeceased by her husband, Gerard.
As per her wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation will take place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held Saturday, May 4, at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave., with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Gardiner, with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
