JOYCE MARY SAMMS
October 21, 1923 – April 26, 2013

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joyce Mary Samms announces her passing on Friday, April 26 at Dr. Charles L. Legrow Centre at the age of 89 years. Mrs. Samms was a veteran of the Royal Navy from 1941 – 1945. Joyce was the daughter of the late Mark and Priscilla Stewart. She was also predeceased by her husband Frederick in 1999. Brothers Thomas, Loll, George, sisters Margaret and Gladys. She leaves to mourn with loving and precious memories her loving family; daughters Kathleen Samms, Judith (Abe) Andrews both of Port aux Basques, four grandchildren Jennifer, Peter, Mark all of Port aux Basques, Michelle of Lloyd Minister AB, eight great-grandchildren Brandon, Bradley, Shannon, Jacqueline, Matthew, Emma, Andrew and Mya. Visitation took place on Sunday from 7-9 p.m., and Monday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m., at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Tuesday, April 30, 2 p.m., at St. James Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Hannah Dicks. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill.
