
Bridget (Basque) Isadore

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected death of our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Bridget Ann Isadore of Wagmatcook First Nation.
She was the eldest daughter of the late Simon and Mary Rose (Pierro) Basque.
Bridget enjoyed travelling especially to the annual pilgrimage to St. Ann’s in Quebec. She loved being a housewife, Mom and Grandma. In her younger years, she taught traditional Mi’kmaq arts and crafts, an employee of WACASO, Ltd., and worked briefly with NADACA in Eskasoni.
She is survived by her longtime friend and husband of 44 years, Fred Isadore. Also, left to mourn are her children, Brian, Ottawa, Spencer, Wagmatcook, and Roberta, Wagmatcook. She is also survived by her siblings, Mickey Basque, Charlie Basque, Sammy Basque, Wilfred Basque, Carl Basque and Brenda Basque, all from Wagmatcook. She leaves behind her pride and joys, 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Also mourning are several nieces and nephews, godchildren, Cornelia Peck, Geoffery Pierro, Kathy Bright, Christine Simon and Martina Johnson; her in-laws, Bessie Prosper, Eskasoni, Geraldine Gould, Membertou, Rita Tontarelli, Wagmatcook, and Mary Jane Macdonough; son-in-law, Freeman Francis, Wagmatcook; and aunt, Christina Aucoin, Sydney River.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Derek Isadore, daughters, Jennifer Ann and Christie Ann, sisters, Janie Rose and Marie Basque, brothers, Frederick and Simon Jr.
The wake will begin on Saturday, May 4, 2013, after 2 p.m. at the Blessed Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, Queen of the World Church, Wagmatcook. Funeral will be held Monday, May 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the same location with Fr. Paul Abbass officiating. Burial to follow at Queen of The World Cemetery.
