Joan (McIntyre) Lowrey
Date de naissance : 16 septembre 1928
Date de décès : 2 mai 2013
Joan Ellen (McIntyre) Lowrey of Coldbrook, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2013.
Joan was born on Sept. 16, 1928, the eldest child of Katherine and Donald McIntyre. Mom was a true athlete: swimmer, skater and bowler. When she met and married the love of her life, our Dad, Cliff, they moved from Quebec to Glace Bay, where she discovered the game of golf and it became her passion for decades. Her accomplishments in the game were many - including 12 Ladies Club Championships at the Lingan Country Club, a highlight having made the N.S. Senior team in I984. Mom and Dad travelled extensively in their life together all over the world (usually with golf clubs in tow). She was an avid bridge player and loved entertaining the “crew” in her home. In her later years in the valley she spent hours in her flower gardens under the watchful eye of her much loved cat of 15 years, Ping. She so loved her family and especially her two granddaughters, Alison and Kelly.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Johnny and Jim McIntyre; sister-in-law, Joyce McIntyre and brother-in-law, Louie Garnier.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Clifford ‘Skip’ ; daughter, Diane MacMillan (Doug); son, Cliff Jr. (Beverley); sister, Dot Garnier; brother, Bill McIntyre; brother-in-law, Jack Lowrey (Barb); granddaughters, Alison Rose and Kelly Nolan; great-grandchildren, Braden and Logan Rose and Morgan Nolan; special friends, Tillie Morrison and Louise Rogers.
