POIRIER, ELIZABETH (BETTY) FRANCIS - It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth (Betty) Francis Poirier announces her passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday, May 2nd, 2013. Born in Fredericton on June 17, 1931, Betty spent her life in Fredericton, retiring in 1989 and spending her retirement years in Cambridge-Narrows. She proudly served the Provincial Department of Agriculture and the people of New Brunswick for over 30 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Winston Carpenter of Cambridge-Narrows, and her best friend and sister, Shirley Ann Reed of Fredericton. Betty is survived by her only son Gerry and his wife Beverley of Saint John, one grandson Dr. Chris Poirier of Washington, DC, two nieces Heather Cain (Luke), and Shelly McKenzie (Brent) and nephew Brent Reed (Jennifer) all of Fredericton. During her years of retirement Betty enjoyed her crafts, cooking, quilting and volunteering at various church functions. The family wishes to convey their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of Windsor Court in particular Bridget for their kindness and devotion during her time as a resident.
Bishops Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements located at 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton NB. At Betty’s request there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 6th 2013 from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 A.M with Father Monte Peters officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Memorial contribution to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
