Agnes (Robertson) MacDonald, 86, of Sydney, formerly of Sydney Mines, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 3.
Born in Sydney Mines on Sept. 29, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ann (Thomson) Robertson.
Agnes graduated from Mount Allison University with her bachelor of education in 1948 and taught school for many years in Sydney Mines, most recently at Memorial High School until her retirement in 1985.
She gathered with the Christians at the Sydney Gospel Hall and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Junior MacDonald, her stepdaughters, Debbie (David) Williams and Beth (Paul) Ford; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Swan, Jonathan Ford, Michael, Stephen and Sarah Williams and great-granddaughter, Olivia Swan. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Yvonne Robertson, Effie Campbell and Jessie MacIver; as well as many nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Lana Tolman.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Bobby Robertson and sister, Jessie Robertson.
Visitation will be held Monday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the Gospel Hall, Yorke Street, Sydney Mines. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Gospel Hall, Yorke Street, Sydney Mines, with Mr. James McClelland officiating. Burial will take place in Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
