LALONDE-Cecile Louise Lalonde of Lafleche, SK, and formerly Gravelbourg, SK, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the age of 94 years. Cecile was born on March 22, 1919 in Montreal, Quebec, to parents Aimé and Eva (nee Berthiaume) Landry. She moved West with her mother, who met Honorius Bouvier, and grew up on a farm near Meyronne, SK. Cecile married Adolphe Lalonde on November 12, 1940, in Meyronne, SK and they were blessed with four children, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Cecile was an excellent seamstress, and made most of her children’s clothing. She enjoyed spending time in the garden and was well known for her geraniums. Cecile made many wonderful meals, and always worked hard to make the “Midnight Meal” with all the trimmings at Christmas time. Many fond memories were made staying up late and enjoying the company of family and a good meal. Grandma would always have the “open” sign on in the kitchen, and would make any meal at any time of the day; she was well known for her dollar pancakes, meat pies and macaroni in the oven. Cecile and Adolphe lived in Abbey, SK and Sceptre, SK before moving to Swift Current, where they resided for many years. While in Swift Current, Cecile worked as the care taker at the Royal Canadian Legion, where she would make meals to help raise funds for the organization; Cecile received honorary long term membership in 1989. She also catered for various functions with family members. Cecile and Adolphe retired in Gravelbourg at the Chateau, and later moved to the Foyer d’Youville together. After Adolphe passed away in 2009, Cecile decided to move to the Lafleche Health Centre to be closer to her sister Jean, where she enjoyed attending the group activities, as well as saying her daily rosary. Cecile treasured the personal care that she received at the Health Centre. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Cecile is survived by her loving family, son Andy (Marlene) Lalonde; daughter Denice LeGentil; daughter Monique (Wayne) Gross; grandchildren Tina (Wayne), Susan (Dan), Nathen, Dionne (Darren), Denelle, Ryan (Joren); great grandchildren Hailey, Tyler, Ethan, Brock, Michael, Kayla, Jocelyn, Jordan, Tanner, Tristen, Masen; siblings Jean Brault, Theresa Thomas, Dan (Theresa) Bouvier, Marie (Ellis) Gavelin, Raymond Bouvier; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Adolphe Lalonde (2009); father Aimé Landry; step father Honorius Bouvier; mother Eva Berthiaume; daughter Marguerite Wells; son-in-law Edward LeGentil; brothers Eugene Landry, Mag Bouvier and Alex Bouvier. Celebration of life was held on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at École Secondaire Collège Mathieu Hall, Gravelbourg, SK. Officiant was Fern Bouvier. The eulogy was shared by Calvin Gavelin. Readers were Dionne Ashton and Jean Clermont. Spiritual message was shared by Janet Loiselle.
